Well Kids, They are pictures like on your phone BUT you can hold the picture in your hands! AND they have text messages on the back that you can read - like texting only there is no off button so they never go away! You can caress them or put them on the bottom of the bird cage. Try to do that with a text message! I knooow....what a concept. Maybe it'll catch on.
I send these postcards out to you because of a reaction I had last winter to email. It struck me that I love the convenience and ease of email, it is so easy to reconnect or stay connected to people, but there was something missing. After scratching my head and readjusting my shorts several times (I think there may have been a glass of wine or something in there too) it came to me. I decided that it is the artifact of communication that we no longer share. That is, there is no letter to hold in your hand or no picture to look at and feel and have that viscerally tactile sensation that came with getting a letter from a lover or long lost friend, a poem from a high school buddy, or grandma asking what I want for Christmas. Today we only have physical brushes with communication from our creditors, or would be creditors, or political babble. The people we love and our friends only hear from us as disembodied voices on the telephone or as electrons over the internet. I was saddened by the thought of how we have lost something with the dismissal of the artifact and decided to try to do something about it. The best way I knew how was through Images I would create. So in March I began sending the cards out to about 20 people and that has now grown to over 100 now. I send a card once per month. They are my favorite image from the month and usually have something to share of where Dorothy and I currently are at. In a small way I can take all the people I like or care about with me when I am on the road.....and those we connect with along the way. If you get the card enjoy it and feel free to bend, staple, or mutilate. Frame them or use them to clean ear wax or send them on to some one else. Just use them and enjoy them.
If you are not on the mailing list and would like to be just send an email (I know - I get the irony) with 'address' in the subject line. the body of the email should have your PHYSICAL mailing address. The one the guy in the uniform brings your bills to:
